Who We Are
We are small family Baptist congregation is a close-knit community of believers dedicated to worship, fellowship, and spiritual growth. With a focus on love, prayer, and support for one another, we come together each week to celebrate our faith in Christ. In our intimate setting, everyone is encouraged to grow in their relationship with God and share in the joy of serving others.
Our Mission
Our mission is to lovingly reach souls for Christ with steadfast kindness, upholding the truth of the Gospel while embracing and welcoming all whosoever will come. As the scripture says in 1 John 3:18 (NIV): “Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.” Therefore, we invite you with open arms, to please join us and receive transformative messages of God’s plan of salvation and calling on your lives.
History
Bloor West Village Baptist Church began in 1928 when a group of about 80 left Runnymede Baptist to form Farmer Memorial Baptist Church. Initially, they worshipped in the Runnymede Bowling clubhouse. In 1931, property at the corner of south Kingsway and Larkin Ave was purchased and the first building (now the friendship room) was completed in 1933. The ‘new church’ was completed in 2 phases. The basement was dedicated in 1950. The completed church was opened in 1957.
Our name was changed in 2014 to Bloor West Village Baptist Church.

Get to Know Reverend Darrel Battle
I met my wife Marilou in 2013, we were married in St. Louis in 2015. I moved from the US to Canada in July of 2017, and became a member of Bloor West Village BC and was hired as pastor in 2018 to present.
Before moving to Canada, I was a member and fully accredited Ordained Minister of the San Francisco Temple Christian Assembly. Once here in 2017, I was ordained and fully accredited as an ordained Pastoral Minister in October 2020 by CBOQ (Canadian Baptist of Ontario and Quebec).
In addition to my love for Christ and the work of the ministry, I am fascinated with the idea of flying cars and drones and hope to operate my own personal flying car/drone before I’m too old to enjoy it.
Among many sports, I particularly enjoy football and love to see the spectacular plays of my favorite players. I often relate the excitement of the games with the praising of our Lord, both God and Savior Jesus Christ.
In other words, He is the ultimate Superhero, all the skills and abilities they/we have come from Him. If I can get excited over a game, how much more can I get excited about who Jesus is and what He has done for all of us; especially me!
